Sarah White
Sarah is a strategic charity leader and committed advocate for the voluntary sector, with a career defined by bridging the gap between policy and frontline practice to achieve meaningful and lasting change. Currently Chief Operations Officer at Off the Fence Trust, Sarah has played a central role in guiding the organisation through a period of significant transition, leading service redesign, governance reform, financial restructuring, and cultural change while maintaining continuity of vital frontline services.
Previously, Sarah led the policy, public affairs, and research function at Sense, establishing a strong evidence base on complex disabilities and positioning the organisation as a trusted voice with national and local government. Combining accessible research methodologies with lived experience, insight, and storytelling, she secured influential engagement with ministers, parliamentarians, and commissioners, and helped shape national responses to issues such as the cost of living crisis.
With experience across governance, safeguarding, service delivery, and national policy influence — alongside volunteering and trustee roles — Sarah brings a unique, system‑wide understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, and a clear focus on delivering impact for those most often unheard.
